The 1301 Tactical is Beretta's premium tactical shotgun that incorporates fundamental design improvements like a lengthened forcing cone that improves shot patterns, a chrome-plated rotating bolt that is easy to maintain and allows for reliable cycling with all ammo types, a contained recoil spring system that allows the stock to be replaced with a variety of fixed and folding versions, the new Pro lifter and semi-flat trigger that improve the shooting and loading experience out of the box, and a wide variety of aftermarket offerings for new forends, front sights, and internal components. The 1301 is perfect for any user who wants the best possible performance in shot pattern, reliability, and the ability to customize the stock to fold or achieve a shorter length of pull.
The A300 Ultima Patrol is a more budget-friendly option that combines some older Beretta design features like a shorter forcing cone, an elevated locking block system, and a recoil spring in the stock, with newer features like a beveled loading port. The older features are exceptionally proven and reliable, but they limit the accuracy and customizability of the platform. This operating system is also less forgiving of extremely light-loaded ammunition. The A300 is great for shooters who want a reliable tactical shotgun but don't need the additional accuracy, the ability to change the stock to an aftermarket option, or the guaranteed reliability with light-loaded ammo. While the A300 is considered to be a more budget-friendly option, Ernest Langdon still considers it an extremely viable tactical shotgun.
